Renaissance and Baroque Society of Pittsburgh
5530 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh,15206
“Renaissance and Baroque was founded in 1969 to promote community understanding and appreciation of the music, arts and culture of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical eras by presenting historically informed performances. We present an annual series of seven performances. Our professional musicians from the U.S. or abroad play on original instruments or faithfully made copies, using appropriate historical performance practices.
We have a extensive outreach and educational program, where our musicians extend their time in Pittsburgh to teach, demonstrate and perform in schools, universities, and medical facilities. Each concert includes a pre-concert talk, given by one of the musicians in each group, and post concert question and answer periods, a lively interchange with all the musicians and the audience.”
