“The mission of SCA is to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of our environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land.
Since 2000, SCA Pittsburgh has introduced thousands of diverse, underserved local teens to conservation and the outdoors, while encouraging them to develop a lifelong ethic of service. The emphasis is on service to the land?bringing teams of high school students together to accomplish stewardship tasks vital to the conservation of the regions parks and other natural resources. Simply put, there is no other organization in the Pittsburgh region that can match SCAs experience and track record in working collaboratively with a wide range of conservation and youth-serving partners to engage diverse Pittsburgh teens in conservation service, environmental leadership and training for the green jobs economy.
SCAs continuum of program experiences range from summer conservation service crews for high school students to year-long internships for young adults of college-age. They can gain valuable on-the-job experience while assisting in efforts to improve the Pittsburgh regions economic and environmental community development.
