“The mission of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation is to “To raise awareness and support programs that give ordinary people the power to save a life. Specifically, the Foundation aims to support programs that prevent death and disability from sudden cardiac arrest.
The vision of the Foundation is to increase awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and influence attitudinal and behavioral changes that will reduce mortality and morbidity from SCA. Specifically, we envision that our efforts will help: 1. Increase the rate of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from 20% to 30% within five years; 2. Double the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) outside the hospital within five years (increase from <5% to 10%); 3. Increase the use of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) for primary and secondary prevention of SCA; 4. Double the rate of survival to hospital discharge within 10 years (increase from 7% to 14%).
