Westmoreland Walks, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, was created in the year 2000 by a group of women who were touched by breast cancer in some way. Some battled the disease and some stood by a friend during the fight. Wanting to contribute toward breast cancer research and do something to help women during and after a breast cancer diagnosis, the idea of the walk was born.

 

In keeping with our mission, Westmoreland Walks, Inc. hosts a Spa Serenity Day for Westmoreland County women battling breast cancer.  These individuals are nominated and then are invited to participate in a day of education, relaxation, inspiration and friendship. The day also provides a wonderful opportunity to meet others going through the rigors of breast cancer.

 

We also recognize the impact of breast cancer on the youth of Westmoreland County.  To this end, we offer a $1,000 scholarship to a worthy graduating senior whose life has been in some way touched by this disease.
