From my earliest memories as a 5-year-old camping under the stars with my father in the parent-child program, the Pittsburgh YMCA has been an integral part of my life journey. Today, I proudly serve as a program director at Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer, where I am deeply committed to enhancing the lives of our community members, especially through our beloved Camp Spencer programming.

Camp Spencer holds a special place in my heart. It's not just a summer camp; it's a transformative space where individuals with disabilities discover their strengths, build lifelong friendships, and experience joy in its purest form. My journey at Camp Spencer began as a camper, evolved through volunteering, and ultimately led me to become the current director. My experiences with the Camp Spencer campers has inspired me to reshape my educational path, and ultimately pivot my career choices. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with camp staff to create inclusive environments where everyone can thrive.

Today, as the Camp Spencer director and a program director for Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer, I am honored to witness firsthand the profound impact of our programs. However, we face critical needs that require immediate attention to ensure we can continue providing exceptional experiences for our campers.

Your donation during this Critical Needs Days fundraiser will be instrumental in addressing these urgent needs. Thanks to a generous matching program, your contribution will be amplified.  Funds raised through my donation page will be specifically allocated to Camp Spencer, supporting projects that are crucial to enhancing our campers' experiences:

1. Creating a Sensory Corner: We aim to establish a dedicated sensory-friendly space within the Spencer Barn dining area. This corner will cater to the diverse sensory needs of our campers, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported during meals.
2. Building a Sun Shade for the Pool: Sun safety is paramount. By constructing a sun shade at our pool area, we will provide essential protection from the sun's rays, allowing our campers to enjoy outdoor activities safely.
3. Creating a Sensory-Friendly Walking Path: A sensory-friendly walking path on the Camp Spencer side will offer a therapeutic environment for relaxation and exploration, fostering a deeper connection with nature.
