Local Resources and Supporting Organizations

• Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Nonprofit Resource Center provides a collection of materials and services relevant to the topic of philanthropy. In particular, the center provides free access to print and online resources on all aspects of managing, fundraising and grant seeking within the nonprofit sector. • Greater Pittsburgh Nonprofit Partnership (GPNP) is an initiative of The Forbes Funds and advocates on behalf of all nonprofits that work hard to assure that our region is healthy and vibrant. • Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management works to provide effective and practical management and governance tools, information, education, and research that strengthen nonprofit missions and multiply all investments of time, talent, and money made in regional nonprofit organizations. • Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Western PA (WPA) works to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education, and certification programs. • Chronicle of Philanthropy offers a robust advice section to help nonprofit workers do their jobs and publishes articles on the latest nonprofit fundraising trends and innovation. (Website)
• Philanthropy News Digest (PND) is a daily news service that summarizes the contents of original articles, press or news releases, and grant-maker communications. In addition, PND publishes Request for Proposal listings daily, providing a brief overview of current funding opportunities offered by foundations and other grantmaking organizations. (Website)
