Benefiting Wilkinsburg Community Ministry

Fundraiser Story

Over the course of the past year I have been surveying Pittsburgh residents, going door-to-door and talking about the strengths and challenges faced by our neighbors. One surveying day, I visited a local food distribution site at 7:30 am on a Saturday morning. I was shocked by the number of people lined up, waiting for distribution to begin at 9 am-over an hour and a half later. Some were on foot, wrapped around the building. Some were in cars, doubled up, a line spiraling through the large parking lot, like a snake coiled. They were all there to simply have enough food to feed themselves and their loved ones.

To avoid going hungry, our neighbors need us. By giving to Wilkinsburg Community Ministries, an organization with a long history of alleviating hunger in Pittsburgh's East End and with deep connections to the local community, we can all take one small step to make sure our neighbors can go to bed without hunger and knowing that we care. Most importantly, I know that WCM will maximize donations and will not turn anyone away from receiving the most basic of resources-food! I hope you will join me in making a donation, big or small, today.
