Kristin's Awkward and Uncomfortable Request for Donations to the Sampson Family YMCA's Critical Needs Alert Day

Fundraiser Story

I work in Membership at the Sampson Family YMCA in Plum. My mother even worked at a YMCA teaching preschool. Despite us both working for a non-profit, I have NEVER been comfortable asking others for money, but its something that I am working on.  Starting with this:

The Critical Needs Alert Day  provides all members of the Community with the opportunity to participate in programs no matter their ability to pay.

In order to help donations go further, The Pittsburgh Foundation will match 50% of the money donated. Your donation could help a working parent afford childcare, teach life saving swimming skills, or even help a Senior connect with others through membership. The Y is made possible by the generosity of our Friends, Family, and Community. Please consider supporting the YMCA.  Also, enjoy laughing at our super hero themed characters that will race other departments on the 6th.

About the Organization

The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh works side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. We know that lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together. That's why, at the Y, strengthening the community is our cause.
