Genesis supported 994 unique clients and their families with multiple visits in 2023 . Genesis clients are primarily unmarried females or young families trying to make ends meet in a single or low-income household. There has been an increase in non-English speaking clients to 12% of all Genesis clients and 63.3% of Genesis clients are non-Caucasian.
With rising gas and food prices along with other personal and economic factors, Genesis services are needed now more than ever. All Genesis services are free, regardless of income.
Here are just some ways that Genesis helps pregnant women, children and families throughout southwester PA.
In 2023:
Genesis Distribution Centers which include : The Bellevue Center, the Grandfamily Program and the Washington Center
-Distributed more 200,000 diapers and 4000 packages of wipes
-Distributed over 20,000 items of children's clothing
Additional items distributed as requested include: Maternity Clothing, Breastfeeding Supplies, Formula, Baby Equipment and Assorted Hygiene Products
Genesis House:
-Provide 1,744 nights of housing, and 5,232 meals to pregnant women with nowhere else to go
-Provided approximately 783 hours of counseling to house residents
Genesis Learning Centers:
- Provided In-person classes for 850 class attendees and Zoom Educational classes to 825 participants when Genesis relaunched the Zoom classes in August 2023.
- Distributed 68 car seats and 500 pack 'n plays
- Shared important child care and parenting education to more than 250 new clients
