East Liberty-based Sojourner House provides long term, in-patient, residential style drug & alcohol treatment for mothers and their children. Mothers have the opportunity to keep their children with them while receiving services, as a holistic approach for healing. for the entire family. We provide starter pantries, clothing, bedding, and bathing needs to get them set up until donations and supplemental services can assist with food and medical servies.
Critical funding is needed to support our families and remove obstacles that affect their recovery. By donating, you can provide any of the following basic needs that are not covered by any supplemental service:
Feminine Hygiene products/personal care items - Food stamps, SNAP benefits and other supplemental funding do not cover feminine hygiene products or personal care items
Diapers
High chairs
Shoes
Clothing
In addition to providing support for these items, we have added an Aftercare service program for when they move on to their next phase in life. The Aftercare services are meant to follow our families, connect them to local resources, and determine if critical social determinants will affect their recovery. Expanding this program to provide a full time Aftercare manager is necessary to follow up and provide a trusted resource for support. Funding can help to maintain this program on a regular basis.
