We are located in downtown New Kensington. We like the play on words with our name. To "Knead" is an action associated with making bread. As Christians, we acknowledge Jesus as the Bread of Life. Our hope is to honor his teachings by loving our neighbor one meal at a time. The Knead Community Cafe serves healthy delicious meals to our neighbors regardless of financial circumstances. We welcome both those who have the ability to pay it forward as well as those who might not have the affordability or opportunities to dine out. Our primary core value is to offer flexible options for a meal through suggested donations, such as paying it forward, paying what you can or volunteering at the cafe for one hour in exchange for a meal. Additional Core Values: • We provide healthy selections using minimally processed foods and fresh local ingredients when possible. • Volunteers are used to the greatest extent possible. • We are committed to eliminating food waste and being good stewards of our resources and the environment. • We believe in community engagement, and we rely on partnership outreach opportunities. Together, helping our neighbors with a hand up and providing hope that others really care. We support this belief by offering a free "dine-in only" community dinner, one Thursday a month. The other Thursdays in the month, we offer a free Grab-n-Go dinner. All are welcome.
