Landforce is a workforce development and environmental stewardship organization that invests in Pittsburgh-area people and the land we call home. We hire, train, and support people who have been systematically excluded from career opportunities. We are a resource for crew members stepping into their power as the best version of themselves, no matter where they are or where they started. By providing training, career coaching, and hands-on training in paid transitional jobs in our employment social enterprise, we are helping people get back to work, all while working on projects that directly improve the environment.
For the past 8+ years, Landforce has served people living in Pittsburgh and the neighborhoods immediately surrounding it. Take a look at some of the numbers:
- 143 people and contributed 65,000 hours of environmental stewardship to our region.
- Our crew members have participated in 23,000 hours of training and 2,334 hours of career coaching.
- We have worked on over 193 land stewardship projects with more than 30 clients.
- On average, 86% of crew members complete training with us and 84% of our finishers go on to other employment within two weeks of completing our season.
- In our most recent data (2020 & 2021) 100 percent of respondents are still working 12 months after leaving Landforce.
- The average wage of our most recent cohort is $19.42/hour.
