Welcome To The Table Project is a volunteer, community-based response to hunger.
Since its inception in 2018, Welcome To The Table Project has served residents of the economically distressed neighborhoods of McKees Rocks and Stowe Township with compassion, dignity, and respect. Welcome To The Table Project focuses its efforts on the most vulnerable community members: children and teens, the elderly, and those who are experiencing food insecurities and/or homelessness; however, no one is turned away from receiving help. Welcome To The Table Project partners with senior living centers, local schools, and youth athletic organizations to reach those in need of services.
Current programs were created to fight hunger and supplement food supplies and include: weekly hot meals for community members and students, nutritious snack bags and care packages for senior citizens in low-income housing and students participating in extracurricular, after-school activities, and special recognition dinners for students. Welcome To The Table Project also offers students opportunities to volunteer and earn community service hours.
We are proud to have served over 12,000 hot meals and 6,000 snack bags and care packages to community residents since 2018. Our plans for the immediate future include an expansion of services that will not only allow us to reach and impact more members of our community, but also to continue working toward our mission.
