The Westmoreland Food Bank supplied over 6.3 million pounds of food to neighbors in 2023, including 1.7 million pounds of produce. With a staff of 28 individuals, the Food Bank relies heavily on the dedication of nearly 5,000 volunteers who contributed 67,000 hours of service last year to help fulfill our mission. The Westmoreland Food Bank served over 13,000 households last year through food pantries and food assistance programming--an increase of 38% in participation over the previous year.
The Food Pantry Distribution Program is the core program of the Westmoreland Food Bank that provides food to over 8,000 low-income households each month through a network of partner agencies located strategically throughout the county. In addition to this program, the Food Bank offers specialty programs that provide for the specific needs of children, senior citizens, and veterans--serving an additional 5,000 households. 2024 is proving to be a challenging year. Rising costs are a struggle for our neighbors and our organization. We are grateful to our community for their support during these challenging times of high need and expenses.
